138 kV Underground-to-Overhead Gen-Tie Transition
Client: HV Interconnection Design
Project Overview
Led engineering and design of riser structures supporting transition of 138 kV underground cables to overhead facilities at a utility-scale solar interconnection. Scope included:
- Riser structure configurations and termination layouts
- Loading assumptions for cable pulling and termination hardware
- Minimum bend radius requirements and clearance verification
- Coordination with geotechnical recommendations and substation layout
- Integration into 60% HV construction drawing package
- Single-bus substation configuration with 138 kV / 34.5 kV transformer
- Transmission take-off structure and underground collector terminations
Delivered a constructible and code-compliant interface between the underground transmission system and overhead facilities.
