138 kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line Rebuild (11 Miles)
Client: Transmission Line Rebuild
Project Overview
Led complete engineering design for an 11-mile 138 kV double-circuit transmission line rebuild replacing century-old lattice towers with new steel monopole structures. Key challenges included:
- Red-tag/green-tag construction sequencing with live-line adjacency
- Maintaining customer taps in service throughout construction
- Coordination with contractor outage sequencing plans
- Structure spotting, easement coordination, and soil boring programs
- Fiber design, FAA permits, and state agency coordination
- Detailed construction sequencing to manage radial feed constraints
The project required close coordination between engineering, construction, and utility operations to ensure continuous service during the multi-phase rebuild.
